In an interview reprinted by the “Chicago Tribune,” Atlanta Spa & Leisure owner Adam Burke told “The Atlanta Journal-Constitution” that relaxation and stress relief are the top reasons customers purchase hot tubs. According to the American Heart Association, heat from hot-water spas leads to a process called vasodilation, or the widening of blood vessels. As the blood vessels open up, tension and pain can also loosen their grip on the body. The AARP also notes that hot water is known for its soothing properties, which can be enhanced by aromatherapy with essential oils, whereas cold water is an inflammation fighter

“My hot tub is running but there’s nothing coming through the jets. What’s wrong?”
There are many reasons this could be occurring, and it could be as simple as the jets not being open. But it could also be an air lock which is simple to fix. Air locks occur when the water level drops too low or after a water change, and air gets trapped in the lines or equipment. There are sensors in the hot tub that detect water flow or water line pressure to protect the hot tub heater from coming on when the water is not flowing past the heater element fast enough. When an air lock occurs, it is common for these sensors to detect low flow or low pressure, which results in the heater being disabled until the problem is fixed. If you have recently drained and refilled your spa and one of your pumps is not working, it’s most likely an air lock. Follow these steps to determine if it is an airlock and how to fix it.
-Identify which pump is not running.
-Determine if a reset button has clicked out on it.
-Make sure reset button is in
-Confirm the shaft is in fact spinning.
-Use a hammer and a screwdriver to loosen the union to allow the air to escape that’s being in there. Because what it is the airlock is just staying and it’s circulating, but it’s not allowing any of the water to move.
-Now simply back it off a bit, not too far, because you don’t want it to pop right off. You’re only going to do about like, say, one revolution. Water is going to come out, some air’s going to come out.
-The pump is going to surge and it will start running again.
-It might take up to 3-4 minutes. Then once it’s running again, you will have more water.
-Now tighten it up again, but not too tight. Just snug it up good to stop it from leaking.
-That’s it. The airlock is now gone.
-You may receive an error message on the topside control display, such as “FLO.” This is normal and a useful safety feature. Do not disable this feature, fix the root of the problem instead.
If after checking to assure they jets are not simply closed, follow these steps to efficiently unclog your jets. If this doesn’t work, you may need to contact a professional to assist you with unclogging your tub because you don’t want anything to stop you from enjoying fun and relaxation in your spa!

Did you know that by soaking in a hot tub, you can decrease your blood sugar level as well as your blood pressure? The warm water helps your body enter a relaxed state and with the added heat, your blood circulates better. By raising the overall temperature of your body, your blood vessels are able to better dilate.
Soaking in a hot tub can also help relieve arthritis pain. The warmer water creates a perfect environment to heal from aches and pains. At the same time, exercising in water is a lot easier on your body than exercising out of water. This makes movement easier which encourages you to work out joints and muscles which would normally cause you pain.
e already covered the obvious fact that hot tubs can be relaxing, but did you know that there are long term relaxation impacts to soaking often? By putting yourself into a combination of hot water and weightlessness you can reduce your overall physical and mental stress. Also, don’t forget about those jets! They have been known to decrease anxiety and put people into an even more relaxed state of mind.
Having trouble sleeping at night? Hot tubs have been known to help with problems like insomnia and other sleep related issues. Sleeping the appropriate number of hours each night and a hot tub has another thing in common, your skin! Stress and anxiety are major causes of looking aged. Luckily, hot tubs reduce stress and anxiety to allow you to get a better night’s sleep which then keeps your skin looking great.
Nothing quite beats relaxing in a hot tub after a long day. Whether you enjoy sitting your hot tub by yourself listening to some soothing music, or enjoying a nice glass of wine with your significant other, the benefits are now a little more apparent. Most importantly, make sure to enjoy your time on this planet because we only get one!
Many of us enjoy an occasional drink to celebrate, relax, or just enjoy with dinner. However, most of us know that once in awhile we may enjoy a few too many drinks, and that definitely comes with a price. You know the feeling. You wake up, head pounding, stomach hurting, and the previous night seems like a blur. Unfortunately, hangovers are a nasty side effect of drinking too much, and all you can do is just get through them. Luckily, there is one tool that can help you recover a bit more quickly, and that is the hot tub. Using the hot tub for hangover relief is an excellent idea as long as you do it right. Here are some steps for relieving a hangover through smart choices and hot tub soaking.
In order to help beat a hangover, you need to understand what causes it. Hangovers occur from an overload of alcohol on the body to the point where the body can not effectively filter it out. This abundance of alcohol in the system causes extreme dehydration, weakened immune system, headache, upset stomach, body aches and pains and much more. One of the main causes of a hangover is dehydration, so the main thing you want to focus on is getting fluids back into the body as quickly as possible. Grab a large water bottle, and start drinking as soon as you wake up. The next step should be getting some food in your system to help boost your energy. You may not feel like eating, or you may be in the mood for something greasy, but eating a healthier meal will help you feel better later on. After you eat, head to the hot tub and set the temperature to about 103 degrees, and soak for about half an hour while you continue to drink water and hydrate. Make sure not to soak for too long as this can worsen your dehydration. The warm water and circulation of the jets will help you relax, and will increase the blood circulation in the body. This increased circulation and sweating will help the body get rid of the toxins from the alcohol. After you finish soaking, take a cold shower or hop in the pool to help lower your body temperature back down. Remember to continue to drink water throughout the day, and avoid excess sugar and pain medications as they can worsen your hangover symptoms.
Waking up with a hangover can be an awful feeling, and can make your day seem excruciatingly long. However, if you make good choices, and properly use your hot tub, you can drastically reduce the unpleasantness of a hangover. Some of my best memories as a kid were around the pool. There is just something special about swimming with friends and family during a hot summer day as a child. However, pools are not only fun for kids, but they also provide many important benefits towards their health and development as well. Keep reading to find out the benefits of owning a pool for children.
1) Gets them out of the house- Unfortunately, many of today’s kids spend far too much time indoors. Video games and t.v have to an extent replaced outdoor activities for many kids. Luckily, swimming is still an activity that must be done in the fresh air, and not on the television. Owning a pool will get your kids to leave the house, and instead play outside while interacting with others. This outdoor playtime is essential for developing social skills and building real friendships with others.
2) Exercise- Many children do not come close to exercising enough. This leads to a high obesity rate, and several other health problems down the road. Swimming is a fantastic way to exercise, and is a great deal of fun at the same time. It may be difficult to get your kids to head outside to go run, but you will probably have more success getting them to swim.
3) Safety- Our world is mostly filled with water, so not being able to swim is very dangerous. Having a pool is a great way to allow your children to become comfortable with swimming, and could help them if they ever fall in the water later on.
4) Coordination and athleticism- Swimming is great for building strength, stamina, and overall physical fitness. Also, swimming is fantastic for developing coordination and body control. When you swim you must control all four limbs and your breathing at once. This is a great skill builder for being able to use your body efficiently. This practice will help your child become a better and more functional athlete overtime.
5) Stress relief and confidence- Many people think that kids have nothing to be stressed about, but this isn’t true. Balancing school, sports, socializing with peers, and other tasks can be v
ery overwhelming for developing minds. Kids are in a spot where they are expected to do a lot, but are constantly changing both physically and mentally. Swimming is a great way to spend time with friends and family while blowing off some steam. This outlet will be an excellent resource for children to relax, and this will help them reduce their stress and be more confident in their own abilities.
Owning a pool is a great source of recreation for your kids, but also offers many benefits for their health and development. If you would like to learn more about the benefits of pools, benefits of owning a pool for children, or how to properly maintain them, contact us today!
